In the film, Spurlock ate nothing but McDonald's food for 30 days, and he gained 25 pounds and developed a number of health problems. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it helped to raise awareness of the dangers of eating too much fast food.

Spurlock went on to make a number of other films, including POM Wonderful Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold (2011), which explored the world of product placement, and Mansome (2012), which examined the rise of the metrosexual male. He also hosted the CNN series "Inside Man" from 2012 to 2017.

Spurlock was a vocal critic of consumerism and capitalism. He often used his films to expose the hidden dangers of products and services that are marketed to the public. He was also a strong advocate for independent filmmaking.
